Arachne Package Manager

Arachne Package Manager is very powerful and easy to use tool for upgrading Arachne. It was designed to prevent Arachne basic distribution package from growing too huge and to allow developers to make installation of plug-ins and DGI components (generally patching Arachne) as easy as possible. Upgrading was never easier than with APMs! If you are programmer, check technical documentation to learn more.

Using Arachne Packages is very simple. You can download them from Arachne Download Page (but only if you are online). Just click on package name to install it! Arachne configuration files (MIME.CFG, WWWMAN.CFG, ARACHNE.CFG...) will be updated automagicaly. You don't have to care which APMs you need: when you encounter new type of URL or document, Arachne will automaticaly offer you to download appropriate APM package. This allows even automatical upgrading of WebTV-style units, etc.

Once you have downloaded any Arachne Packages from net, you can store them in special directory as files with extension .APM. After installing and configuring new version of Arachne, you can easily install also all your APMs from previous version of Arachne. Just open APM files in Arachne to do this (Desktop -> Utilities -> Install Arachne Package).

Warning: Although Arachne Package Manager is doing all changes very carefuly, we recommend you to backup your configuration files (.CFG) before installing any APM package. We are also planning to implement uninstall feature later.
